Women’s Volleyball middle blocker Danielle Meyer has been name to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All- District 4 First Team, by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

To be nominated for ESPN The Magazine Academic All- District consideration, a student athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, and must be a sophomore in both athletic and academic standing. Meyer is leading her team with averages of 5.11 points, 4.12 kills and 1.41 blocks per game. Meyer was a second team selection as a sophomore and she was named a first team all district selection last season and later was named a second team Academic All American.
Men’s Basketball’s David Lighty almost doubled his career high with 21 points as Ohio Atate beat Wisconsin- Grren Bay 91-68 Monday night in the opening round of the NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament at Value City Arena.

Freshman Kosta Koufos had 18 points and Jamar Butler, the only returning starter from last year added 17 points and 10 assists. Othello Hunter also had 17 points. The Buckeyes only had one turnover shot 52 percent for the game. Coach Thad Matta was active on the sideline despite two major back surgeries this summer, and improved to 8-0 in season openers as a head coach.
