  • The keys to beating Purdue are really no different to ANY game. It all starts and stops with line play. But it is especially true regarding this years addition of the Buckeyes. We need to play well, check that, MUCH BETTER, up front, on both the OL (though the OL did improve vs. WISC) and DL’s. ESPECIALLY the DL. Our DL MUST start “making plays”. This goes for not only the Purdue game but also the rest of the way if we hope to win the Big-Ten. It’s really pretty simple AND IS THE KEY to OSU taking the step required to win the BIG games we’ve failed to win recently
  • Purdue is not the team they were last year. This is a game OSU should take, in fact needs to take, a big step forward. MSU and PSU present significantly greater challenges. This week MUST set the table for where we need to be, to finish off OctoberJeff Logan
  • Also we need to be able to throw the ball DOWN FIELD. When the other team is EXPECTING us to throw the down field.  So far, we have not shown the ability to do so. That WILL be  a problem as we run through the rest of our schedule vs. MSU, PSU, ILL and yes even UM, as they will improve as the season goes on

  • Game of differing methods of ball control. OSU needs to run, run, run against worst rush D in conference and Purdue has to ball control with their basketball on turf approach - throw, throw, throw
  • OSU has to get Pryor comfortable with throwing deep. We have to have deep and over the middle success to beat teams like MSU and Penn State. So get up early and let Pryor throw deep to gain confidence.
  • Tressel needs a big score win to compare with the Penn State close win v. Purdue to get national attention and respect. Tiller and Tressel teamed up against Rich Rod in the recruiting wars. So he will be split over respect in this his last season and a need for a big # win.

  • Bucks must get after the Purdue QB. Force him to make some bad throws
  • Beanie must gain around 200 yds
  • Win the turnover battle
